Opportunity —
Camps With Friends is an innovative platform created to connect parents to children’s camps and enrichment programs. The main goal is to find activities for kids and discover new programs that will surely be their most memorable experiences. An opportunity for kids to create new friendships and for parents to find the best camps with other similar parents. Not only did we have to create the best experience from the perspective of the parent, but we also had to keep the business owners in mind. With thousands of parents needing to find camps and enrichment programs for children throughout the United States, we knew bringing them both together in one place would be beneficial.

The Challenge —
As the Lead Designer on the project, I started with the branding of the Camps with Friends as the logo the business had at the time of arrival did not have the vision and the style we were trying to achieve. I spent weeks and multiple iterations trying to create the best logo for Camps with Friends. Something that is minimal but still conveys the message of friendship and companionship. I had multiple meetings with the CEO and co-founder to nail down the perfect branding we would use to build our new platform. After the logo was agreed and finalized I worked swiftly to create the brand style guide. This style guide will be the nucleus of how everything looks and feels and setting the tone for Camps with Friends for years to come. Once the style guide was nailed down and good to go I worked with our tech lead to creating a site map that was feasible for our MVP release we collaborated using Invision Freehand. Once I knew the direction and had a plan in place it was up to me to create our lofi wireframes and user experience for how the app would function and behave. We did a soft launch for our initial MVP beta and we used this time to gather feedback and test some enhanced features for our users. After gathering all the feedback I made some minor adjustments to the eventual go-live app in the app store.

Solution —
We had a budget in mind for MVP release and to get everything needed for phase one complete and approved by investors. We had our initial app approved by the Apple store and we are making enhancements to our next version release of the app. As you can see below our new enhancements include an updated UI and the platform provides a fully secured and private capability to share your camp booking selections with other parents so their children can enjoy programs with their friends.
